  • National Cancer Institute Diversity Training Programs
    • The National Cancer Institute (NCI) recognizes the need to promote diversity in the cancer research workforce. The Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD), through its Diversity Training Branch (DTB), leads NCI’s efforts in the training of students and investigators from diverse populations who will be part of the next generation of competitive researchers in cancer and cancer health disparities research.
  • National Institue of General Medical Scinces Recruitment and Retention Plan to Enhance Diversity
    • NIGMS continues to place special emphasis on the recruitment, retention, and graduation of individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups. The following racial and ethnic groups have been shown to be underrepresented in biomedical research: African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans/Alaska Natives who maintain tribal affiliation or community attachment, Hawaiian Natives, and natives of the U.S. Pacific Islands. In addition, it is recognized that underrepresentation can vary from setting to setting and individuals from racial or ethnic groups that can be convincingly demonstrated to be underrepresented by the grantee institution should be included in the recruitment and retention plan.
